The Maston Mountain bike trail area is a mixed use area that has the distinction of being the lowest elevation desert trails in Central Oregon. It is is BLM managed, therefore you don't need a forest service pass to park at the trailhead. As you glide through the juniper forests, remember to be respectful not to spook a horse coming and going from the trailhead. This area does get sandy in the dry months so riding during the October-April months is ideal.

Routedetails

A very new trailhead with @point[ample parking and a restroom is available off Newcomb Road](0,0.924).  Park here but secure your belongings.  Additionally the Juniper trailhead is just off Cline Falls Highway on the north edge of the area.

This trail system is great for off season use (not summer time) because trail conditions become too sandy. Beginner and moderate riders will enjoy the gradual elevation changes and manageable trails.  Most intersections include junction numbers for reference.

*@point[Only experienced riders should venture on to the River Canyon Trail (aka Rockbar Trail)](119,0.338)*.  This small section hugs the Dechutes River canyon edge while riders enjoying a few rocky features along the trail.

This trail area provides off season time riding to keep your trail skills polished while the other trails remain unavailable.  Driving from Bend is quick so getting on the trails is quick and easy.

To the immediate Northwest of Maston is Cline Butte (see photo).  While the Cascades are visible from a few vantage points, Cline Butte is visible from almost every point within the trail system.  Use this anchor if you need a great reference point.

Eagle Crest Resort is just up the road from Maston along Cline Falls Highway.  Riding this area would be a perfect adventure for families staying at the resort.
