Starting at the Kent East Hill YMCA, this route follows bike lanes and the steep 277th St. Corridor Trail Down to the Valley and follows the Interurban and Green River Trails around the Valley floor before passing through the Kent Station shopping district and then back up Canyon Road to the East Hill YMCA. Riders need to be comfortable riding in traffic on this route. Lots of interesting sights and things to do on this route!

Routedetails

@poi[Park at the Kent YMCA](102638472), 10828 SE 248th St. Kent, WA 98030. Take the bike lane South on 109th Ave. following SE 256th St. and 116th Ave. SE to the [277th St. Corridor Trail](https://youtu.be/PObUJqLxANc). Follow the steep switchbacks down to the Valey and across the Green River at mile 3.7 (make sure your brakes are in good shape and watch out for slippery spots where moss  and algae can cover the trail in deep shade).

Then follow the trail along the South side of S.277th St. until mile 5.2 where you make a 180° left turn and head down the ramp to the @poi[Interurban Trail](102638470) (if you get to Hwy 167, you missed the turn). From there you head North on the Interurban trail 1.2 miles and turn left at the Green River Trail.

Follow the GRT 2.3 miles to mile 8.8 where you turn right and leave the trail for a @photo[short detour around the Golf Driving Range](14352238). This allows you to check out the new Meeker Street Prominade which will eventually go all the way from the Green River to downtown Kent. After turning right off the trail, you follow a path for 100 feet, then Russell Road for .1 miles till you get to Meeker St. where you turn left and follow the Promenade back to the Green River Trail. When you get back to the GRT, turn right, pass under Meeker Street, then take an immediate left and cross the bike bridge. Then turn right (North) on Frager Road at mile 9.5 and follow this lightly used road North.

At mile 11.3 cross the river on the @slice[bike bridge](d,18262.4,18412.8) (beware the slippery metal grating) and head North on the Green River Trail. On your right is the [Green River Natural Resources Area](https://www.kentwa.gov/departments/public-works/environmental/green-river-natural-resources-area) which has hiking trails and wildlife viewing towers. Just ahead is the newly reopened (summer 2023) [Van Doren's Landing Park](https://www.kentreporter.com/news/kents-popular-van-dorens-landing-park-reopens-at-new-location/), which features Restrooms, Picnic spots, Pickleball Courts, and a unique [Mt. Rainier inspired play structure](https://www.parentmap.com/article/new-van-dorens-landing-park-playground-kent) for the kiddos!

1 mile North of that last bike bridge, angle left and take the underpass underneath S. 212th St, then continue North for another mile to @poi[3 Friends Fishing Hole Park](102639626), where you turn right at mile 13.3, drive through the parking lot, and follow 58th Pl. S and Russell Road to S. 196th St. where the [Hydroplane and Race Boat Museum](https://thunderboats.ning.com/) is located.

As you cross 72nd Ave S. at mile 14.5, look to your right for the ramp down to the Interurban Trail. Turn right (South) on the Interurban Trail. At mile 15.8, the unusual Blue Quonset Hut shaped structures on the left are the home of [Blue Origin](https://www.blueorigin.com/).

At mile 17.3, turn left at James St. passing [ShoWare Center](https://www.accessoshowarecenter.com/) (home of the Seattle Thunderbirds Hockey Team). From Showare, cross the street and take Regional Justice Center Way past the Court House where the street curves and becomes Ramsay Way. Follow Ramsay Way through the [Kent Station](https://www.kentstation.com/) shopping district (so named for the Sounder Rail Staion located here), where some of the many ammenities include:

* Cold Stone Creamery
* Duke's Seafood
* Agave Cocina & Cantina
* And many more...

From Kent Station, Ramsay Way becomes 2nd Ave. N Southbound. Cross Smith Street, go past the Kent Library and 2 more blocks to Gowe street where you turn left at mile 18.0.  Two blocks more on the right is the  @poi[Wild Wheat Bakery & Cafe](102639888), higly recomended for breakfast. Continue East on Gowe as it becomes E. Titus St. @point[As you approach E. Smith Street](d,29843.12), **get on the sidewalk before you round the corner turning right on Smith - this gives you access to the Smith bike lane without being in the travel lane of HWY 516 in a spot with no shoulder.**

Proceed up Smith/Canyon Dr. for .7 miles where you turn left at 94th Ave. S. which involves an awkward crossing of the street both ways. Follow 94th as it turns East and becomes S 248th St. Go east another 0.8 miles to your starting point at the Kent YMCA.
